Project Overview

JLT Solar is an emerging startup in the solar energy sector. Operating in a competitive market, they needed a visual identity that could compete with established giants while appearing approachable to residential homeowners.

The Challenge

JLT Solar entered the renewable energy market as a startup needing to compete with legacy providers. In an industry where consumer investment is high, the “startup” aesthetic can often translate to a lack of stability. My goal was to move the brand away from a “DIY” look toward a visual identity that radiates corporate authority, technical precision, and long-term reliability.

The Goal

To position JLT Solar as a “Modern Authority.” By utilizing a deep, grounded navy palette and a custom-engineered logo mark, we established a brand that feels both established and innovative.

Strategic Direction

  • Professionalism: Bold, sans-serif typography with customized ligatures to suggest stability.
  • Innovation: A modernized sunburst icon that implies movement and the “future-facing” nature of the company.
  • Trust: A deep navy blue palette to evoke authority and dependability, contrasted with a vibrant “Solar Yellow” for energy and optimism.
  • Typography: The typeface was chosen for its high readability and geometric balance. The “SOLAR” subtitle is tracked out to create a sense of foundation.
  • Color Theory: 
    • Midnight Blue: Represents the corporate, trustworthy side of the business.
    • Solar Yellow: Represents the product—sun, natural energy.

Strategic Direction

The final identity for JLT Solar successfully positions the company as a premium service provider. By balancing bold corporate elements with energetic icons, the brand now carries the visual weight necessary to secure high-value contracts and build immediate consumer confidence.
